If someone told me that florals would be part of my daily wardrobe, I’d have called them a liar.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen some absolutely beautiful floral prints over the years. But usually the price tag was waaaaaaay out of my range (I’m talking $3,000 for a floral kimono top). To me, florals are hit or miss. Either a print knocks it out the park, or totally misses the mark.
In recent times, the floral print has certainly made a comeback. I mean, people are using floral pieces as hair wreaths, as backgrounds for photoshoots, and as party decor. If you check out street style, there’s floral bomber jackets, floral blazers, and even statement pieces like floral satchel purses.
Floral is all the way in. So how does a city girl make the transition from Summer to Fall and keep her floral pieces along for the ride?
When you find out, let me know! lol.
September typically brings about a nice cool breeze that makes you think of cuddling at sports games and breaking out the comfy booties. But here in Tennessee, it’s currently 90 degrees all day! Yup, that puts a different spin on the season when Fall is operating as if its the middle of summer.
So, what’s a girl to do?
Well, I decided to take a page out of Tim Gunn’s (Project Runway) book and “Make it Work.” I paired this Lucky Brand floral flirty blouse with some denim-esque culottes. Since the sun is not forgiving, I included a fun hat that I copped from the men’s department store.
One of the best ways to bring floral prints into your wardrobe is choose one piece. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are some floral outfits on the market that are divine. I’ve seen a few two piece floral suits that were runway inspired. However, the majority of them I’ve seen look cheap and a bit tacky. Do not let that be you!! Ease into florals. The great thing about them is that you can mix and match with solid colors.
If you are wanting a head-to-toe floral look, take a chance on a chic jumpsuit or a maxi dress. In the Fall, you can put a blazer over it or even keep it casual with a jean jacket (yes those are back as well).
If floral outfit pieces are too much for you, ease into things with accessories. Choose a fun handbag or grab a pair of floral booties for an extra pop to your wardobe. This is still a fun, feminine, and super playful way to enjoy your sense of style.
