BATHROOM DÉCOR RENOVATION: SEARCHING FOR INSPIRATION

This Fall, I’ll be embarking on a small bathroom renovation project that truly has me feeling over the moon! I’ve had a couple of months to wrap my head around what I want to achieve aesthetically speaking and it is my hope that everything falls in line with the vision.

My ultimate goal is to create a space that evokes a feeling like no other. I want to be able to step into this small space and feel like I’m somewhere else – on a vacay perhaps. I want to lounge with my Zen instrumental music playing and be mentally transported to a lovely Japanese villa. I’ve had the opportunity to be inspired by so many phenomenal interior design spaces and this will be reflected in the newly renovated space.

I’ve been having so much fun over on Pinterest looking through various images and getting inspired by other bathroom designs. Here’s a little collage of my favorite bathrooms that feature wallpaper.

My bathroom décor vision revolves around a specific print – this print was found via Milton and King. Once I decided on a print, then I began to ponder the different ways to style the rest of the space. I have a few pieces to acquire, but until then, I created a moodboard for inspiration. Check it out below.

My challenge is going to be a big one because the bathroom space had been poorly maintained throughout the years. By that I mean, the painters or handymen who did construction on the floor and shower tiling, painting, etc. were not as competent as I’d have liked. I can look around the room and know that prior projects were rushed and not enough care and detail were taken to properly care for an old house.

Well, this time I am hoping to remedy that and it all starts with proper planning of the space and details. Because this project is one being tackled on a limited budget (less than $1500), I want to maximize my efforts by laying a better foundation. This means sanding the walls, removing old nails, replacing fixtures, and related details.

Whether your décor project is large or small, having a written plan in place can help you and contractors stay on task and on one accord. I decided to share the same interior design plan I am using with my readers. I promise you this comes in handy when you are visiting the hardware store or simply trying to remember all the needs to be completed.

I look forward to showing you the finished bathroom décor project! The planning alone has certainly been a labor of love.
